Juliens Auction of Marilyn Monroe items - Sam Shaw Necklace
The 2009 Juliens Summer Entertainment sale (June 26 & 27) has once again put Marilyn Monroe on the cover of the catalogue....for good reason. Over 150 items once belonging to Marilyn are up for grabs. Many items originated from the 1999 Christies auction run by her estate. My favourites include furniture from her brentwood home and the necklace that she wore in some Sam Shaw photos.
In fact, the shaw necklace has always held a special place for me because I bid on it when it was first auctioned off at Christies in 1999. I'm sure I was like other fans out there who looked through that catalogue and thought they had found a secret treasure. The necklace was part of a bigger lot of necklaces with no photo of her wearing it. Needless to say, lots of people recognized it and the bidding went way, way over my budget. Imagine my disappointment when I looked at this lot in Juliens sale and see that the necklace is in very bad shape. What a shame. I certainly would have treasured this piece. Some of you may remember that I was successful in getting a hat at last year's auction. Unfortunately, this year I am in the midst of a move so I will be unable to bid on anything. If the necklace had been in better shape I definitely would have been tempted.
The auction catalogue is now available to be viewed online HERE the Marilyn items start on page 86-87.

Megan Fox and Marilyn Monroe
I've added actress Megan Fox's tattoo to the website here. I haven't seen any of her films so I can't comment on her acting or anything but I'm happy to see someone promoting our girl like that and she seems like a real fan. Here is some more info:
Fox is particularly proud of her tattooed Monroe tribute - because she has dreamed of the design since she was a kid: "She's a piece of artwork to me. I committed to having her face on my arm for the rest of my life, so I have to be a pretty big fan."
She adds, "Not in the sense that I ever want to emulate her. I just have a connection that I had from childhood. It's what you're exposed to and what makes sense to you when you're a kid. I got it done after the first Transformers."
Fox already has eight tattoos and now she's hoping to add to the design on her arm - and become one of the most unpopular stars among makeup artists. She says, "I'm going to sleeve my right arm. I'm not sure what I'm going to get, but it'll be a big piece of artwork from my shoulder to my elbow. You know, Ewan McGregor has a half- sleeve. People don't even know. It's an extra 30 minutes in the makeup chair. So what?"

Marilyn Exhibit at Jersey Museum
An incredible collection of stage and personal costumes worn by the screen idol Marilyn Monroe are on display at the Jersey Museum. Many on display for the first time, this exhibition combines these iconic costumes with accessories, jewellery, keepsakes and trinkets owned by Marilyn, giving an intimate look into the life of the superstar. The exhibit runs until the end of the year.
The owner of the collection David Gainsborough Roberts will be available every Wednesday from May 13 until Nov 25 from 12 noon until 1pm. Listen to stories about Marilyn’s life, films and her iconic costumes from local Marilyn memorabilia collector, David Gainsborough Roberts. David has loaned his collection of Marilyn’s costumes and keepsakes to Jersey Museum for the Marilyn exhibition. During these talks you’ll hear more about Marilyn’s life and how David began what has grown into the world’s largest collection of Marilyn’s genuine film costumes.
Jersey is one of the Channel Islands, between the UK and France. I am so jealous for those who are able to view this collection in person. The costumes are all well-known-famous pieces not gowns you've never seen her in. How exciting! Check out the catalogue HERE it can be ordered from the Museum.
Thanks to Alex for sharing some gorgeous photos he took at the exhibit

If anyone is attending this event, especially when David will be there, please let me know. I'm interested in getting a signed catalogue and was hoping someone could help me out.
